Scientist

Ms. Analise Lindborg is an environmental scientist with academic and professional experience in ecology and toxicology. She specializes in analytical chemistry and aquatic toxicology, primarily focusing on organic and emerging contaminants. Her technical skills include data analytics and visualization for complex environmental data sets. Ms. Lindborg provides technical support on various client projects involving risk assessment, ecological restoration, litigation, data analysis, and research. She also has experience with and is involved in several ongoing initiatives related to environmental equity and justice.

Natural Resource Damage Assessment

Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA), Industrial Site, Eastern United States Assess validity of natural resource damage claims and technical approach used to evaluate injury. Provide independent assessment of natural resource damages (NRDs) associated with alleged injuries to surface water and wetlands.
Ecological Services Analysis, Former Industrial Site, Texas Evaluate ecological services at highly industrial area in abandoned canal and potential NRDs related to heavy metal contamination in sediments.
NRDA, Manufactured Gas Plant, Eastern United States Assess potential NRDs allegedly related to manufactured gas plant hazardous substances and provide support for allocation of NRDs.
NRDA, Asbestos Mining Site, Western United States Provide technical support for potential NRD claim related to alleged injury to aquatic and terrestrial resources from release of selenium and other heavy metals associated with mining activities. Scope candidate restoration projects.
NRDA, Eastern United States Develop conceptual site model, evaluate baseline conditions, and assess potential natural resource impacts for potentially responsible party in its defense against NRD allegations due to historical releases of organic contaminants to soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water.
NRDA, Former Manufacturing Facility, New Jersey Evaluate potential NRDs in wetlands, lakes, and uplands at a former manufacturing facility in New Jersey. Coordinate sampling analysis plans and identify potential restoration projects. Constituents of concern include lead and arsenic.
NRDA, Mining Site, United States Assisted in investigation of a potential NRD claim involving alleged injuries to aquatic and terrestrial habitats from releases of hazardous substances and naturally occurring minerals related to mining activities. Compiled, reviewed, and summarized chemical and ecological data to support settlement negotiations.

Environmental Monitoring

Arsenic Contamination in Private Wells, North Carolina Served as lead environmental scientist supporting Duke Environmental Law and Policy Clinic representing a group of homeowners on issues of arsenic contamination in private wells in rural North Carolina. Compiled and presented information regarding arsenic chemistry, exposure routes, human health concerns, and in-home water treatment options. Conducted historical assessment of potential sources of arsenic groundwater contamination in the area.

PFAS/Emerging Contaminants

Regulatory Toxicology for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Critically review and prepare technical comments on state and federal PFAS regulations and criteria (primarily in drinking water and biosolids) for various projects and clients. Expertise includes derivation of water criteria (such as maximum contaminant levels and health advisory levels) for perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid and an in-depth understanding of relative source contribution development.
PFAS Fish Consumption Advisory Regulatory Tracking Review and compile state fish consumption advisories (FCAs) related to various PFAS compounds.  Understand sources of PFAS in fish tissue and technical basis for FCA development. Serve as lead on tracking FCA updates, implementing updates on the external Integral PFAS map, and understanding FCA project implications for various clients. The Integral PFAS map also includes soil, groundwater, surface water, and drinking water criteria.
NRDA, Eastern United States Develop conceptual site model, evaluate baseline conditions, and assess potential natural resource impacts for potentially responsible party in its defense against NRD allegations due to historical releases of organic contaminants to soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water.
EPA Process for Antimicrobial Pesticide Registration Compiled and summarized information from the EPA regarding its antimicrobial pesticide registration process. This work was used to assist future clients in legally and efficiently registering antimicrobial products in the United States.
Assessment of Ethoxylated Surfactants in San Francisco Bay Area Stormwater, Wastewater, and Ambient Bay Water, San Francisco, California Identified and quantified various ethoxylated surfactants in stormwater, wastewater, and ambient bay water in San Francisco Bay area. Used advanced analytical methods to characterize concentrations and primary pathways of contamination. Submitted research as thesis for completion of Master’s degree. Publication in progress.
Analysis of PFAS, Haw River, North Carolina Assessed extent of PFAS contamination in the Haw River near Pittsboro, North Carolina. Identified potential sources, transport, and fate of PFAS in drinking water. Developed visualizations and hydrodynamic model.

Environmental Analytics

Litigation Support for Municipal Landfill, Louisiana Supported litigation initiatives by compiling, reviewing, and summarizing data and creating detailed visualizations using R statistical programming language. Aided in the interpretation and analysis of outputs from air quality model.
Mine Facilities Evaluation, Alaska Evaluate the spatial and temporal distribution of metals in soils and plants surrounding mine facilities in the Alaskan Arctic. Conduct statistical analysis to support the overall fate and transport investigation. Manage and contribute to a variety of client deliverables, including regulatory reports and peer-reviewed papers.
Analytics for Mesocosm Study, Confidential Location Supported a team using AQUATOX© to model and analyze ecosystem-level effects of a specific herbicide in mesocosms. Analytical support includes data compilation, processing, and visualization for assessment of modeling results.
Data Management and Analysis, Manufactured Gas Plant, Montana Manage and analyze groundwater, soil, and air quality data to determine contaminants of concern in various media and assist in regulatory reporting.
Environmental Data and Integration Assessment Tool Develop cloud-based tool for integrating a multitude of data streams into a dashboard to evaluate monitoring results and inform future monitoring for wave energy converter devices deployed near coastal Oregon.
State Environmental Justice Regulations and Actions Compile and publish first-ever compendium of state regulatory activities related to environmental justice and state agencies that lead environmental justice initiatives. Understand state environmental justice screening tools and how these tools should be used in the private and public sector.
R Statistical Programming Experience utilizing R statistical programming language to complete data and statistical analysis, visualization, and quality assurance tasks related to various client and business development projects.
