Project Management

Aluminum Can Manufacturing Facility, Salt Lake City, Utah Project manager and field lead for stormwater and industrial wastewater sampling at can manufacturing facility. Ensured proper methods were utilized to support compliance and permit-related sampling events. Completed required reporting with both the state and city agencies as well as monthly invoicing, budgeting, and scoping of future work.
Aquifer Recharge Study, Utah County, Utah Project manager and hydrologist for an aquifer storage and recharge study. Coordinated discussions and planning with client, completed monthly invoicing, budgeting, and scoping of future work.
Blackwell Zinc Site, Blackwell, Oklahoma Assisted with project management of compliance monitoring, site investigation, and remedial design for a groundwater plume resulted from historical operations at a zinc smelter. Tasks included attending and leading bimonthly client meetings, labor report review, invoice and budget tracking, scoping of future work, and project team and task management.
Natural Resource Damage Assessment, Long Island, New York Project manager and groundwater analyst for damage assessment of a trichloroethene plume on Long Island. Project management tasks included team organization, monthly invoicing, scoping of future work, and budgeting.
Former Wood Treatment Facility, Meridian, Mississippi Technical resource and assistant project manager for a former wood treatment facility. Assisted with monthly invoicing, scoping of future work, and budgeting. Assisted with project management including reviews of budgets, statements of work, and invoices. Provided technical expertise in ArcGIS and Leapfrog 3D modeling. Organized and performed surface soil sampling for site-related chemical constituents.

Assisted in writing position papers, rebuttal reports, and modeling reports.

Groundwater Remediation

Groundwater Compliance Monitoring and Remedial Design, Blackwell, Oklahoma Assisted with various aspects of a groundwater remediation project at a former zinc smelter site in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Completed weekly composite calculations of wastewater treatment plant influent for laboratory analysis and verified that weekly results were below threshold criteria. Using Surfer software, monitored monthly groundwater elevation data of aquifer drawdown and potential sewer vulnerability. Coordinated and performed permit sampling at wastewater treatment plant. Assisted with completion of 5-year report and annual monitoring reports.

Litigation Support

Litigation Support and Preparation of Expert Witness, Multiple Counties, California Assisted with hydrogeologic conceptual site model for multi-county litigation focused on PFAS contamination. Assisted in preparing expert witness for trial.

Natural Resource Damage Assessment

Selenium Plumes, Southeastern Idaho Assisted in natural resource damage assessment for groundwater selenium plumes in Southeastern Idaho. Tasks included historical document review, data and plume interpolations, figure generation, and coordination with other consulting firms.
Trichloroethene Plume, Long Island, New York Assisted in natural resource damage assessment for trichloroethene groundwater plume in Long Island. Tasks included project management, historical document review, data and plume interpolations, figure generation, and coordination with other consulting firms.

PFAS/Emerging Contaminants

PFAS Regulatory Tracking Coordinated quarterly updates to regulatory maps of PFAS in groundwater, surface water, and drinking water for Integral website. Maps differentiate between enforceable and non-enforceable standards for each state and provide working links to connect users to state-specific webpages. Regulatory maps also tracked soil PFAS standards and consumption advisories.

Mining

Gold King Mine Spill, Four Corners Region, U.S. Performed water quality sampling subsequent to the Gold King Mine spill (2015) and analyzed historical water quality samples to determine the percent of particulate metals/metalloids from mining versus non-mining sources in the tributaries of the San Juan River. Analyzed water quality samples and sediment samples for lead isotopes, particle size, particle shape, total and filtered metals (via inductively coupled plasma atomic mass spectroscopy), and total suspended solids. Performed statistical and spatial analysis to determine metal source. Participated in academic and stakeholder meetings to share findings. Source identification work culminated in a peer-reviewed publication.
Mining-Sourced Heavy Metals in Rivers, Southern Ecuador Co organized field campaigns in 2014, 2016, and 2017 to Southern Ecuador to assess impacts of improper mine-waste disposal to local rivers and streams. Assisted with the construction and monitoring of a lateral channel to promote passive filtration. Participated in international meetings with collaborators from government and academic institutes. Aided in the interpretation scientific findings in both Spanish and Quechua.

Program Management

US Magnesium Superfund Site, Grantsville, Utah Technical advisor on behalf of the Friends of the Great Salt Lake stakeholder group for the US Magnesium Superfund Site. Interpreted site documents generated by EPA and US Magnesium, including Phase 1 and Phase 2 site assessments, ecological risk assessments, and human health risk assessments. Generated quarterly reports and presentations with pertinent site progress. Participated in stakeholder meetings and public meeting regarding progress of the Superfund site.
