Our Commitment to ESG

At Integral, we have set our ESG standards high to ensure we live up to our values as a socially responsible company with accountability and transparency.

The Integral Charitable Foundation

In 2021, Integral Consulting Inc. made a founding grant of $1.75 million to support the launch of the Integral Charitable Foundation (ICF), an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to science and engineering education, addressing climate change, and improving environmental and social conditions in our communities and beyond. Today, members of Integral Consulting Inc. are partnering with the ICF to implement a charitable giving program to qualifying organizations, provide pro bono technical and educational support to community groups and others, and award academic scholarships to students in environmental science and engineering programs at five universities.

The Pillars of ESG

Currently, we are investing in the following five ESG pillars that support our core values and make a positive impact on a changing world. Please explore the following links to learn more about what we are doing, why it’s important, and where we aspire to go.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – We see the value of diverse experiences and perspectives to our culture and business performance, especially in an industry that still struggles with issues of representation, equity, and inclusion.

Vision

We seek to grow these numbers and broaden representation at all levels of the organization. We have an active DEI committee and provide regular training and other forums for our staff to learn and share stories that reinforce our commitment to a diverse work force and inclusive, open work environment. We are also working to collect data to measure our compensation to ensure equality and fairness across our diversity metrics.

Corporate Giving and Volunteerism –We are committed to do our part to address climate change, improve environmental health, expand access to STEM opportunities for the next generation, aid victims of natural disasters, and invest in our communities.

Vision

While we have made progress in this area, our goal is to double the level of our philanthropic contributions to environmental, health, social, and STEM related organizations in the next 3 years.

Scholarships  – We see the long-term value of the partnerships we have with key academic institutions, their students, and their alumni in our ranks. We fund academic scholarships at a growing number of colleges and universities, including those with historically high black student populations. The funds are dedicated to support research projects in the environmental and STEM fields.

Vision

Our vision is to grow the total dollar amount, increase the number of scholarships, and increase the number of colleges and universities involved.

Environment – We know we have both a responsibility and a role to play in reducing resource consumption and getting to a carbon neutral world. In order to achieve our environmental goals we must be able to measure and manage our key sustainability metrics.

Progress and Vision

Progress

We are concentrating our efforts in the areas where we can make the largest reductions in our operational footprint, including:

Facility Operations
Resource Consumption
Waste Streams
Recycling
Travel
Carbon Footprint
as it relates to commuting and business travel

Vision

While the goal is to become a carbon neutral organization, we believe we must be able to measure and calculate our progress, educate our staff on performance, and empower our staff to educate others on how to make a difference. The vision is to develop metrics to monitor and report our sustainability performance in the year 2022 and identify the best opportunities to decarbonize our operations and reduce resource consumption; stay tuned.

Governance – Rigorous ethical standards, transparency, and accountability are the keys to sustaining our company and establishing its legacy for the long term. The company expects the highest standard of ethical conduct and fair dealing from each employee, officer, director, volunteer, and all others associated with the Company.

Progress and Vision

Progress

Integral has put in place a range of policies, procedures, and practices to support our commitment to strong governance standards and controls, all of which are designed to protect the best interest of all stakeholders in the company:

  • A company Code of Ethics, addressing standards of ethical and professional conduct, conflicts of interest, legal and regulatory compliance, anti-discrimination and anti-harassment standards, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, and political activity

  • Annual independent audits of the company’s financial statements and 401(k) plan

  • Independent director representation on the Board of Directors

  • Annual review and updates to a robust risk management plan that identifies key risks to the company and specified the measures we take to prevent and/or mitigate those risks

  • Staff representation within company leadership – two rotating staff advisor positions with the company’s Executive Team are filled at all times by members of the company’s senior technical and corporate staff

  • Board oversight of CEO performance and executive compensation

Vision

Our vision is to continue investing in improved governance performance through ongoing and expanded Board of Directors and shareholder education programs.  We will also take further steps to strengthen the standards we require of our vendors and suppliers with respect to business ethics, anti-discrimination, cyber-security, health and safety, and legal and regulatory compliance.
