Assistant Scientist

Ms. Veronica Whitman possesses a diverse background in epidemiology, environmental health, and statistical analysis. Proficient in GIS software (QGIS) and statistical tools like SAS and R, Ms. Whitman utilizes her strong foundation in research and data analysis to bridge the gap between public health and statistical analysis, enabling her to effectively address complex multidisciplinary problems.

GIS Analysis

Spatial Analysis and Visualization of Social Vulnerability and Flood Risk Data, Louisiana Conducted cluster analysis using spatial data analysis software GeoDa by integrating social vulnerability data from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and flood risk data from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to assess spatial patterns. Utilized QGIS and R to create visually impactful maps that effectively showed the spatial distribution of the integrated data.

Statistical Analysis

Internalizing Symptoms and Diet Quality in Children, New York City Utilized statistical analysis software SAS to analyze data from the New York City LEGACY Girls study, exploring the relationship between internalizing symptoms and diet quality. Developed a robust diet quality index by leveraging dietary intake data and literature on reliable diet indices.
Exposure to PAHs during Windows of Susceptibility for Breast Cancer and Oxidative Stress in Daughters and Their Mothers, New York City Analyzed epidemiologic and biomarker data from a cohort study to better understand the impact of environmental exposures on intermediary markers of breast cancer. Explored the relationship between exposure to PAHs and pyrene and oxidative stress levels, measured at various points across the life course, in girls and their mothers.
