Regulatory Compliance Training for Sites in Washington State

For the past 10 years, an Integral scientist has conducted regulatory compliance training for project managers and environmental professionals working on contaminated sites in Washington State. The course, sponsored annually by the Northwest Environmental Training Center, in Seattle, Washington, specifically addresses regulatory compliance under Washington State’s Model Toxics Control Act. General topics covered in the course include identifying beneficial uses of surface water, groundwater, and soil; understanding the tiered cleanup level design called Methods A, B, and C; determining cleanup levels for surface water, groundwater, and soil; evaluating the leaching pathway; and conducting a terrestrial ecological evaluation. The course also covers recent changes made to state regulations and implications of those changes on cleanup projects.
