Rapidly Repairing A Mission-Critical Groundwater Treatment Control System Remotely
By Keith P. Brodock, P.E., P.P., Principal, Engineering
OUR CHALLENGE
After routine preventative maintenance, a client in Texas could no longer start their CERCLA-required groundwater treatment system. They tried to fix the problem over the course of 2 days without success. They turned to their local control system consultant who, after another day of downtime, was unable to figure out the issue. The client then turned to Integral for a solution.
OUR APPROACH
After speaking with the client, it appeared the control system was not allowing startup. Having never worked on this treatment system before, we deployed a remote access product to evaluate the issue. Searching through over 1,000 pages of code, we identified the startup routine and located a piece of equipment that was not properly reassembled after maintenance.
OUR IMPACT
Within 45 minutes of receiving the call from our client, we diagnosed the issue and identified a solution that enabled the system to start up. Integral’s quick thinking and solution-oriented approach ended 3 days of downtime for a mission-critical treatment system.
