Environmental Economics

Recreational Value for National Parks, U.S. Worked with the National Park Service to analyze survey data from the Socioeconomic Monitoring Visitor Survey to determine per-visit, per-day, and annualized consumer surplus estimates for several national parks and historical sites. This analysis used a version of the travel cost method that was adapted for biases due to onsite sampling, and the consumer surplus estimates contribute to the field of environmental economics from their future use in policy analysis and benefit transfer studies. This work culminated in a master’s thesis, which added further analysis using the social cost of carbon to determine and discuss the social costs of visiting National Parks.

NRDA For Groundwater

Resource Equivalency Analysis, Louisiana Created a decision analysis model that used a Monte Carlo simulation to inform the client of drivers of injury at a site. The program simulated input parameters to a resource equivalency analysis model. This allowed the client to see what parameters had the most effect on the outcome of interest and informed them on where to invest research and resources further.
