Strategic Planning at a Former Wood Treating Site
By Todd Martin, P.E., Principal, Engineering
OUR CHALLENGE
Under a bankruptcy settlement, our client is responsible for the cleanup and facilitation of redevelopment at a site in Kansas City, Missouri. With limited investigation and remediation funding available and many stakeholders expecting action, our client needed to quickly develop a comprehensive remediation strategy for the site.
OUR APPROACH
Integral collaborated with our client to gain a thorough understanding of the potential costs and benefits of various investigation and remediation actions. We crafted a strategy to prioritize the actions that would maximize benefits while minimizing human health exposure and preventing further contamination. Additionally, we aided in marketing the properties to potential industrial tenants, creating an additional funding source for remediation.
OUR IMPACT
After partnering with Integral, the client was equipped with a capital plan that enabled them to tackle the most beneficial and critical tasks to prevent human health exposure within the constraints of their available funding. In addition, this plan facilitated discussions with the state regulatory agency, leading to their support.
