Natural Resource Damage Assessment of PFAS
By Judi L. Durda, Senior Principal
OUR CHALLENGE
Our client was faced with a state-led natural resource damage claim for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in groundwater, rivers, and lakes.
OUR APPROACH
We assessed damages using resource equivalency and other economic methods, supported negotiations with trustees, and developed restoration projects to back settlement. The foundation of our analyses included hydrogeological and forensics evaluations to examine source and PFAS fate and transport along with assessment of water supply usage and impacts.
OUR IMPACT
We provided technical consultation, developed a written report in response to the natural resource damage claim, and offered critical strategic input. Our efforts resulted in favorable claim settlement terms for the client.
