Emergency Response

Truck and Trailer Parking Lot, Newark, New Jersey Coordinated and managed an emergency response and follow up remediation with the client, U.S. Coast Guard, Newark Fire Department, EPA, and NJDEP after a site tenant discharged 8,000 gallons of waste oil onsite and into the Passaic River.
Repackaging Company, Branchburg, New Jersey Managed emergency response with NJDEP, local fire department, and local drinking water supplier after discharge of alpha pinene impacted homeowner drinking water in multiple New Jersey counties. Currently conducting follow-up site investigation and remediation.

Site Characterization

Former Metal Plating Facility, Dense Nonaqueous-Phase Liquid (DNAPL) Chemical Recovery, Fairfield, New Jersey Conducted MIP investigation at site, enabling groundwater samples to be focused on the most contaminated location at each investigation point.
Former Metal Plating Facility, Woodbury Heights, New Jersey Conducted MIP investigation at site, enabling groundwater samples to be focused on the most contaminated location at each investigation point and allowing for full delineation of a chlorinated solvent plume.
Truck and Trailer Parking Lot, Newark, New Jersey Conducted MIP investigation at site, enabling groundwater samples to be focused on the most contaminated location at each investigation point and allowing for full delineation of a chlorinated solvent plume. Additional sampling was conducted offsite to define the extent of groundwater contamination and identified potential co-mingled groundwater contamination plumes emanating from two adjacent properties.
Former Manufacturing Facility, Camden, New Jersey Installed 40 onsite and offsite monitoring wells to evaluate a chlorinated solvent plume. The offsite groundwater investigation was conducted at an active railroad yard, which required training with the railroad to access the property.

Groundwater Remediation

Former Fuel Depot, Oxygen Infusion System, Newton, New Jersey Performed installation, monitoring, and maintenance of an oxygen infusion system at a former oil and gasoline distribution terminal. The system enriches the groundwater with oxygen that enhances aerobic activity in the groundwater and breaks down residual levels of benzene in the groundwater.
Auto Supply Warehouse, Aerobic Biodegradation Injection, Union, New Jersey After removal of gasoline-impacted soil resulting from a 23-year-old UST leak, injected oxygen release compound below grade to successfully assist in the breakdown of benzene and ethylbenzene in groundwater. Prepared a technical report for NJDEP submission.
Former Manufacturing Facility, Camden, New Jersey, Light Nonaqueous-Phase Liquid Oil Recovery, Camden, New Jersey Conducted manual oil recovery from wells from an undefined point source.
Former Metal Plating Facility, DNAPL Chemical Recovery, Fairfield, New Jersey Conducted manual removal of DNAPL chlorinated compounds identified during the MIP characterization in a subsurface depression.

Site Investigation

Truck and Trailer Parking Lot, Newark, New Jersey Performed environmental investigation of a 175-year-old industrial property. The client was concerned with potential environmental liability on the property as it would pertain to future real estate transactions. During the investigation seven USTs were discovered and removed. The client qualified for a New Jersey Innocent Party Grant that was recently approved for $370,000. Prepared technical report for NJDEP submission.
Truck and Trailer Parking Lot, Newark, New Jersey On behalf of a client facing an eminent domain takeover of his property by the City of Newark, initiated the environmental investigation of the 175-year-old industrial property, which led to the discovery and removal of five USTs. The client qualified for a New Jersey Innocent Party Grant and received $160,000. Prepared technical report for NJDEP submission.
Former Manufacturing Facility, Camden, New Jersey Completed environmental evaluation and implemented soil and groundwater investigation and cleanup of contaminated soil at 125‑year-old industrial property. More than 90 areas of concern were identified and investigated. Prepared technical report for NJDEP submission.
Truck and Trailer Parking Lot, Newark, New Jersey In response to a newspaper article, EPA demanded that the client investigate former smelting operations at the site because these operations may have impacted a playground on residential property adjacent to the site. After advising EPA that a metal smelting company had operated on the residential property as well as the client’s site for 70 years, EPA conducted its own site investigation for heavy metals. The investigation resulted in excavating an area along the property boundary that was exposed to residents and placing a partial cap on the client’s site.

Site Remediation

Chemical Company, Newark, New Jersey Evaluated, cut, cleaned out, removed, and disposed of 25 chemical tanks.
Former Manufacturing Facility, Paterson, New Jersey Installed a soil cap with certified clean material and topsoil to encapsulate contaminated soil onsite.
Truck and Trailer Parking Lot, Newark, New Jersey Removed oil and gasoline tanks, excavated contaminated soil, and arranged for offsite disposal of contaminated material.
Former Manufacturing Facility, Camden, New Jersey Upon completion of a site investigation, removed and disposed of several thousand tons of contaminated soil. Prepared technical report for NJDEP submission.
Proposed Site Development, Nutley, New Jersey Under an EPA Self Implementing Cleanup Plan, excavated and stockpiled hundreds of tons of PCB-contaminated soil, obtained post-excavation soil samples, and backfilled excavations.

Vapor Intrusion

Former Manufacturing Facility, Camden, New Jersey After cessation of manufacturing at the facility, a vapor intrusion investigation indicated levels of TCE above New Jersey’s Rapid Action Levels, which resulted in an evacuation of the facility and relocation of office employees. Retained to investigate interior paint and window caulking for PCBs, as well as concrete for PCBs and PAHs during building demolition.
Former Metal Plating Facility, Woodbury Heights, New Jersey Conducted offsite vapor intrusion investigations at a church and a maintenance garage to determine if any impacts from the site’s contamination plume were impacting these facilities. Arranged for yearly inspections and maintenance of the existing vapor remediation system.

Health And Safety

Dry Cleaners, Bergenfield, New Jersey Performed OSHA compliance monitoring for a dry cleaner.

Environmental Monitoring

Auto Dealership, Maple Shade, New Jersey Maintain and clean out oil/water separation system.
Auto Dealership, Woodbridge, New Jersey Maintain and clean out oil/water separation system.

Sampling
