Brooke Arena

Data Manager/Analyst (212) 440-6703 New York, NY barena@integral-corp.com

Ms. Brooke Arena is a data manager and analyst with over eight years of experience collecting, managing, and analyzing environmental data, with a background in ecotoxicology, ecology, air emissions inventories, risk assessment, and site remediation. She is experienced in a range of data management activities, including the configuration of data management systems that support construction monitoring and sampling programs; the development and management of field data collection applications that support the sampling of air, biota, water, sediment, and soil media; the development of data reports for submittal to regulatory agencies; and the compilation of historical data from multiple sources into relational databases. She has experience in toxicology, laboratory and literature-based research, data analysis, water sampling, and conservation practices. As a data manager and analyst, she assists scientists and engineers to ensure project data are properly loaded, validated, and quality controlled for analysis and reporting.

Data Management

Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Compliance Monitoring, California Managed water, sediment, and tissue chemistry data for the TMDL compliance monitoring program. Loaded field and laboratory data into the database, coordinated with laboratories, and performed data quality checks. Assisted in screening data against California Toxics Rule, effects range-medium (ER-M), effects range-low (ER-L), and project-specific tissue targets, and exported data tables for annual reports. Created and submitted data deliverables to the Bight Regional Monitoring program and the California Environmental Data Exchange Network (CEDEN).
Construction Monitoring, New York Managed a database for an automated data management system that supported a construction monitoring project. The data management system included a real time data collection component to record and store minute by minute air monitoring data which involved data configuration in Python and EQuIS, real time data visualization dashboards in EQuIS Enterprise, data quality checks, and annual reporting.
Emissions Inventory, Maryland Designed, developed, and implemented a database management system for a greenhouse gas and criteria air pollutant emissions inventory project. Acquired data from tenants.  Processed, quality controlled, and loaded data into the database. Developed database queries and stored procedures that performed automated emission calculations and created formatted data exports and visualizations for reporting.
Emissions Former MGP Site, NAPL Recovery, New York Designed and implemented field applications using EQuIS Collect to manage, store, and create data visualizations for clients. Led field programs which involved bi-monthly groundwater and air monitoring measurements, recovery of nonaqueous-phase liquid (NAPL), groundwater, emergent contaminant, and waste characterization sampling. Loaded data into EQuIS and reported annual groundwater monitoring and PFAS data to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
Source Control, Oregon Maintained and implemented a data management system that imports, stores, and reports real-time data collected from a well monitoring system. The data management system included automated processes that uploaded data from an online drop box into an in-house database using Python. Developed a customized SQL script that performed data quality checks for automated monthly reports. Maintained multiple custom data report codes that generated data visualization materials for the project team.
Long Term Monitoring, Michigan Managed sediment, semipermeable membrane device (SPMD), and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) field and laboratory data, used to investigate the potential scope of remediation for the area of concern. Loaded data into a data management system, supported data validation and SPME/SPMD concentration calculations, performed data quality checks, and produced data deliverables for client review.
Watershed Data Summarization, Delaware Assisted in data compilation, data quality assessment, data loading, and the production of a data summary report for the results of an historical data set of a sampling program for watershed toxics assessment and restoration conducted by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Developed an SQL script that generates exceedance statistics used to support data evaluation and risk assessment and produced data deliverables for client review.

Data Quality Assurance

Climate Action Plan, New York Completed a thorough quality assurance review of the Town of Brighton’s greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory to ensure it is in line with New York State Guidance and standard GHG protocols. Evaluated emission sources, emission factors, and calculated emissions to develop an approach to account for inputs that may have been estimated or were missing from the last inventory.

Surveying

NYSDEC Fish and Wildlife, New York Collected and analyzed environmental data in support of fish and wildlife conservation of endangered species. Managed and organized large historical data sets and evaluated data quality and accuracy population, and diversity of endangered species' habitats. Created a data summary report which included data visualizations and statistics for final deliverable.

Climate Impact Assessment

Emissions Inventory, Maryland Designed, developed, and implemented a database management system for a greenhouse gas and criteria air pollutant emissions inventory project. Acquired data from tenants.  Processed, quality controlled, and loaded data into the database. Developed database queries and stored procedures that performed automated emission calculations and created formatted data exports and visualizations for reporting.

Groundwater Sampling

Emissions Former MGP Site, NAPL Recovery, New York Designed and implemented field applications using EQuIS Collect to manage, store, and create data visualizations for clients. Led field programs which involved bi-monthly groundwater and air monitoring measurements, recovery of nonaqueous-phase liquid (NAPL), groundwater, emergent contaminant, and waste characterization sampling. Loaded data into EQuIS and reported annual groundwater monitoring and PFAS data to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).

Groundwater Remediation

Emissions Former MGP Site, NAPL Recovery, New York Designed and implemented field applications using EQuIS Collect to manage, store, and create data visualizations for clients. Led field programs which involved bi-monthly groundwater and air monitoring measurements, recovery of nonaqueous-phase liquid (NAPL), groundwater, emergent contaminant, and waste characterization sampling. Loaded data into EQuIS and reported annual groundwater monitoring and PFAS data to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).

PFAS/Emerging Contaminants

Emissions Former MGP Site, NAPL Recovery, New York Designed and implemented field applications using EQuIS Collect to manage, store, and create data visualizations for clients. Led field programs which involved bi-monthly groundwater and air monitoring measurements, recovery of nonaqueous-phase liquid (NAPL), groundwater, emergent contaminant, and waste characterization sampling. Loaded data into EQuIS and reported annual groundwater monitoring and PFAS data to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
