Site Remediation

Former Industrial Site, Hillside, New Jersey Execute the planning, implementation, investigation, and overall management of a project to remediate an active manufacturing property with dense nonaqueous-phase liquid (DNAPL) impacts from tetrachloroethene resulting from prior operations. Work includes the preparation of the potential remedial options of the contaminated areas and further investigations, as warranted. Currently working to formulate additional investigations at the site, including a bedrock and geophysical investigation at depths up to approximately 500 ft below ground surface. Onsite investigations have included soil, groundwater, potable water, and associated immediate environmental concern and vapor sampling. Also helped prepare the engineering system action and vapor concern reports for submission to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).
Berm Remediation, Robbinsville, New Jersey Following litigation of a claim to remove a section of a soil berm that had been partially constructed in a wetland at a residential property, sampling of the berm materials led to the recycling of more than 6,000 tons of berm material as landfill cover at considerable savings to the insurance carrier to exclude the site from the site remediation program. Coordinated the effort with NJDEP Land Use Regulation Program, the Mercer County Soil Conservation District, and the municipality. Work included the restoration of the entire 1,500-ft berm with topsoil and seeds to meet the various agency requirements.
School Flooring Investigation and Remediation, Mullica Hill, New Jersey Managed the investigation and remediation of a school’s gymnasium rubberized flooring containing significant levels of mercury. The flooring material, underlying concrete, and subsurface soils were remediated in accordance with applicable standards and screening levels and replaced with clean fill materials. Reviewed the bid specification and managed the contractor throughout the process, The project was closed with an unrestricted use response action outcome.

Site Investigation

Distressed Asset Services, New Jersey On behalf of a regional bank, provide services concerning potential foreclosures of distressed assets. Services range from site inspections, transaction screens, and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments through remediation and closure. Wrote the site investigation report as well as the remedial investigation report and remedial action work plan. Submitted documentation of an historical fill classification exception area/well restriction area to NJDEP.
Leaking Aboveground Storage Tank Investigation and Remediation, Pennsylvania Was hired by the owners of a property regarding a leak associated with a former boiler in the basement of a building. After inspection, it was determined that the leak was coming from the connection between the fill line from the aboveground storage tank and the boiler itself. Visible staining and odors were observed in the area, which was directly next to the potable water supply well for the property. Planned and executed all soil and groundwater investigations and remediations—along with the investigation and replacement of the potable water well at the property—in conjunction with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP). The project was closed in accordance with PADEP’s ACT 2 in its Land Recycling Program.
Grant Limited Liability, Perth Amboy, New Jersey Conducted remedial investigations associated with two former leaking underground storage tanks at two residential dwellings.
