Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority On-Call Biological Services

Project Summary

Integral staff have offered on-call services to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority since 2005, completing more than 30 task orders spanning field assessments, CEQA compliance, construction monitoring, and mitigation site management.

Challenge

SCVTA needed consistent biological support across a wide range of transportation infrastructure projects, from highway interchanges to creek fish passage improvements, each with distinct regulatory and species considerations, including relocation and monitoring of sensitive species like steelhead and California red-legged frog and multi-year monitoring across several mitigation sites.

Our Role

Integral staff have assisted SCVTA with more than 30 task orders to date, including:

• Field assessments and a Resource Management Plan for the Coyote Ridge Preserve
• Special-status wildlife surveys and construction monitoring for State Route 152 improvements
• A CEQA assessment for SR 87 HOV landscaping, with resulting mitigation and monitoring implemented
• Steelhead and California red-legged frog relocation and construction monitoring for the Upper Penitencia Creek fish passage improvements project

What We Delivered & Results

Contributions have spanned the SCVTA Consolidated Riparian Restoration Program and the Coyote Ridge Preserve Resource Management Plan, along with multi-year monitoring of the Measure A consolidated mitigation site and the Tasman wetland mitigation site, riparian habitat mitigation monitoring at Wrigley Creek and Upper Penitencia Creek, and wildlife construction monitoring for the Upper Penitencia Creek Fish Passage Improvements Project.

More than 30 task orders have been completed since 2005, sustaining SCVTA’s ability to advance infrastructure projects while meeting biological and regulatory requirements through more than two decades of continuous on-call service.
