Project Summary

Automating chemical safety data collection into a single searchable platform.

Integral developed the Chemical Safety Information Gateway – a centralized web tool that automatically compiles product safety data for over 20,000 chemicals regulated under the U.S. TSCA Chemical Data Reporting rule. This tool transforms a cumbersome manual process into an efficient, automated system that provides instant access to comprehensive chemical safety information.

Challenge

Manually gathering chemical safety information from countless websites is cumbersome and inefficient.

Companies and consumers needed to search through numerous websites to find chemical safety information. With data scattered across 23 different authoritative sources and more than 110,000 webpages of risk and hazard assessments, the process was time-consuming and prone to inconsistencies. Users struggled to ensure they had accurate, consistent, and up-to-date information for the chemicals regulated under TSCA.

Our Role

Integral’s Environmental Analytics team created an automated solution to consolidate chemical safety data from multiple sources into one platform.

We implemented:

  • Automated web-scraping to collect and standardize data from 23 authoritative sources
  • A flexible architecture that allows new sources or chemicals to be added easily
  • Integration of over 110,000 webpages of risk and hazard assessments
  • A user-friendly web dashboard for searching and accessing information
  • Data standardization to ensure consistency across diverse sources

By identifying trusted sources and consolidating their data, we ensured chemical safety information would be accurate, consistent, and up-to-date.

What We Delivered & Results

A centralized gateway providing instant access to comprehensive chemical safety information for over 20,000 chemicals.

The Chemical Safety Information Gateway transforms how users access chemical safety data. Through our user-friendly web dashboard, users can search for any chemical and directly access the latest risk and hazard details from all 23 sources in one place.
The system’s automated data collection keeps the database current as information evolves, eliminating the need for manual searching across multiple websites. By automating data collection and providing a single searchable interface, the gateway offers companies and consumers instant access to comprehensive, up-to-the-minute chemical safety information – all in one convenient place.
