I-80/I-680/SR 12 Interchange Permitting
Project Summary
Integral staff assisted with permitting and preconstruction surveys for three phases of the I-80/I-680/State Route 12 Interchange project, managing permit applications submitted to multiple state and federal agencies.
Location: California
Key Personnel
Stephen C. Rottenborn, Ph.D. Senior Principal
Kelly Hardwicke, Ph.D. Senior Science Advisor
Challenge
Each phase of the interchange project presented its own permitting complexities, with the second phase requiring intensive agency consultations and extensive searches for habitat mitigation opportunities across wetland, riparian, and special-status species habitat.
Our Role
Integral staff prepared and managed permit applications submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, performing required preconstruction surveys for special-status species and intensive construction monitoring across all three project phases while evaluating mitigation actions including mitigation bank credit purchases and habitat preservation through local land trusts.
What We Delivered & Results
Permit applications and preconstruction surveys were completed across three distinct interchange project phases, each addressing unique wetland, riparian, and special-status species considerations, with permits secured across multiple regulatory agencies and construction monitoring sustained without disrupting project timelines.
