Integral staff served as the lead natural resources consultant for the City of San Jose’s Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan update, contributing substantially to both the plan and its associated draft Environmental Impact Report.

Challenge
The City needed a comprehensive description of existing natural resource conditions and an assessment of how the General Plan update could affect those resources across Santa Clara Valley, with policy language that needed to reflect natural resource considerations accurately.
Our Role
Integral staff synthesized information from diverse sources to detail existing natural resources citywide, assessed the resource impacts that could result from the General Plan update, and devised General Plan policies to minimize or ameliorate adverse effects, preparing the biological resources section of the EIR alongside this policy input.
What We Delivered & Results
A comprehensive biological resources chapter and natural resource policy input were incorporated into the adopted General Plan and its certified EIR, with existing natural resource conditions documented citywide and General Plan policies developed to address the identified resource impacts.
