Bio
Mr. Craig Jensen is a chemical hydrogeologist specializing in contaminant transport, site assessment, and geochemical analysis. Prior to joining Integral, he led environmental sampling campaigns in North Carolina as a post-doctoral research scholar to investigate the fate and transport of PFAS. He has experience using chemical tracers to age-date groundwater, calibrate groundwater flow models, and perform contaminant source tracing.
Relevant Experience
Fate and Transport
Fluorochemical Manufacturing Facility, Illinois — A PFAS manufacturing facility has been identified as a potential PFAS source to local surface water, groundwater, and soils. Examined the PFAS fate and transport process and identified potential third-party sources for litigation support.
PFAS in Biosolids, Maine — The application of biosolids from a municipal wastewater treatment plant treating paper mill waste has resulted in contamination of soils and groundwater. Investigated groundwater transport pathways in unconfined and bedrock aquifers.
Groundwater Modeling
Fluorochemical Manufacturing Facility, North Carolina — Led field sampling campaigns to investigate the discharge of PFAS from groundwater to tributaries of the Cape Fear River. Used geochemical tracers to determine groundwater age and calibrate groundwater transport models. The models were used to reconstruct past and predict future PFAS exposure in private drinking water wells.
Site Assessment
Former Oil Refinery, Alaska — Operations at a former refinery in Alaska resulted in the contamination of groundwater with PFAS and sulfolane. Assisted with the preparation of annual monitoring and alternate water solutions reports.
