Field Investigations, Confidential Location, Southern Tier of New York — Owner’s representative for completion of field investigations on vacant, residential, industrial, and commercial properties. Jobsites included a former manufactured gas plant (MGP) site on both commercial and industrial properties, former waste disposal sites on vacant and residential properties, former industrial manufacturing sites, and within a stream. Responsibilities included coordination and communication with property owners; site planning, survey, and utility location coordination and oversight; site reconnaissance and data collection; environmental investigations, including boring and sediment extraction for analytical analysis; oversight of third-party engineering, investigation, and construction activities; and construction management of demolition and restoration activities.

Muck Road Bridge Abatement and Demolition, Rome, New York — Coordinated all activities related to engineering, environmental sampling, and construction and demolition services associated with the Muck Road bridge removal and restoration activities. Responsibilities included collection of soil and concrete samples for chemical analysis prior to excavation and demolition activities to characterize the planned excavated soil and demolition debris; coordination with subcontractors, including asbestos sampling and analytical analysis activities; staff involvement pertaining to scheduling, coordinating needed equipment, site-specific health and safety plan, and communications with the client and regulatory agencies; screening of field materials with photo-ionization detector; and engineering support and field oversight during bridge demolition and road construction events. Daily activities included leading health and safety meetings, directing and documenting field activities, tracking materials and waste, preparing daily summary reports, and facilitating coordination and communications.

East Site Remediation, Rockaway, New Jersey — Project manager and owner’s representative for the removal of forested woodlands, excavation of hazardous and nonhazardous soil and debris, and installation of barrier cap at active steel forge plant site. The project included removal and grinding and disposal of trees and brush, installation of erosion and sediment controls, daily ecological inspections of surrounding wetlands and erosion and sediment controls, selective demolition of former building foundations, consolidation and disposal of debris and rubbish, excavation of approximately 3,000 tons of nonhazardous material and 2,000 tons of hazardous material, regrading and sloping of site, and installation of barrier stone cap. Responsibilities included acting as the day-to-day client’s representative, making daily erosion and sediment control inspections, conducting ecological inspections of silt fence onsite, overseeing compliance by the general contractor with contract terms, reviewing submittals, scheduling and budgeting, daily recordkeeping, and maintaining relevant correspondence and waste tracking related to the project.

Former MGP, Brooklyn, New York — Responsible for construction management services for the ongoing implementation of remedial actions at a former MGP site. The project included implementation of a joint brownfield cleanup program, voluntary cleanup program, and an EPA mandated bulkhead restoration project; excavation of approximately 42,000 cubic yards of MGP-related contaminants; selective demolition of building foundations, underground facilities, and former MGP structures; installation of support of excavation, dewatering and onsite discharge, and completion of all excavation activities within a temporary membrane structure; excavation backfilling; selective demolition of portions of existing Gowanus Canal bulkheads; construction of approximately 880 ft of steel bulkhead barrier wall along the Gowanus Canal; implementation of community air monitoring plan (CAMP) with continuous real-time monitoring; removal of demolition, excavation, and construction waste from the site and disposal at offsite facilities; installation of passive dense nonaqueous-phase liquid recovery wells; and installation of bulkhead hydraulic relief system. Responsibilities included acting as the day-to-day client site representative, overseeing compliance by the general contractor with contract terms, reviewing submittals, scheduling and budgeting, evaluating administrative submittals, daily recordkeeping, and maintaining relevant correspondence related to the project. The remedial action was completed in compliance with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) regulations.

Prior to construction, assisted in conducting constructability reviews and the review of contractor bids and selection. Also assisted with coordination of all team members and stakeholders, including the design engineer, CAMP consultant, contractor, NYSDEC, NYSDOH, EPA, other contractors working on the Gowanus Canal, property owners, the community, and government officials.

Demolition, Remediation, and Construction, Rockleigh, New Jersey — Responsibilities included managing subcontractor during the demolition, remediation, and construction activities. Project activities included demolishing a loading dock and steel canopy, installing sheeting and associated state-owned enterprise structures, excavating and disposing of contaminated material, and completing backfilling and restoration activities. Daily activities also included observing and documenting noncompliance, reviewing and signing manifests, and recordkeeping and correspondence with the client and subcontractors related to the project.

Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST) and Building Demolition and Remediation, Chester, Pennsylvania — Prepared drawings, specifications and bid documents for the demolition of industrial buildings, PCB-coated ASTs, and elevated conveyors and elevators. The project activities included the partial demolition of industrial buildings, construction of a concrete masonry unit wall, sealing of existing and new structures, and hazardous waste abatement, management, and disposal. Acted as the onsite owner’s representative during the duration of the construction activities.

Former Hammonton MGP Remediation, Hammonton, New Jersey — Project manager and owner’s representative for the remediation of soil and groundwater at a former MGP. The project was completed as part of the New York Brownfields and Contaminated Site Remediation Act and a voluntary cleanup program. The site is occupied by the municipal water authority, which operates supply wells, water tower, and a drinking water treatment plant on the property. Remedy included the in situ stabilization/solidification (ISS) of 45,000 cubic yards of impacted soil to depths of 65 ft via auger mixing, excavation of approximately 20,000 tons of impacted soil, capping of impacted soil beneath the municipality’s water tower, relocation and restoration of above- and below-grade utilities, demolition and relocation of a cellular phone tower and switchgear, and identification and abatement of asbestos-containing material and PCB materials prior to demolition of municipal garage and storage buildings. Perimeter ISS wall was utilized as excavation support system for excavations as deep as 18 ft below grade. Stabilized cuttings generated by ISS were reused as backfill onsite beneath clean fill cap. Installed and interpreted data from geotechnical instrumentation (biaxial tilt meters, strain gauges, geophones, optical survey targets, and inclinometers) on the 150-ft tall water tower located within 5 ft of the ISS footprint to monitor the stability of the structure before and during construction. Responsibilities included managing engineering and construction teams during the design and construction phases of the project, overseeing compliance by the general contractor with contract terms, reviewing submittals, scheduling and budgeting, evaluating administrative submittals, completing daily recordkeeping and maintaining relevant correspondence related to the project, documenting general progress in daily field notes, observing and documenting noncompliance, coordinating all onsite activities, reviewing and signing manifests, and reviewing subcontractor health and safety plans, certificates of insurance, and sediment and erosion control plans, and demolition activities including asbestos abatement and waste characterization.

Wastewater Pipeline Construction, Concord, New Jersey — Provided oversight of multiple contractors in the construction of a wastewater treatment plant and associated pipeline for an aviation plant. Oversaw and directed the planning and scheduling of the work. Organized and facilitated interactions with regulatory agencies and pertinent parties involved in the project. Day-to-day operations included trenching and excavating, pipe assembly, testing, documentation, and health and safety compliance checks. Conducted daily and weekly health and safety meetings and reviewed task-specific hazards or concerns with work crews throughout the day to ensure efficiency and consistency while maintaining a safe worksite.

Real Estate/Commercial/Solar Development Clients, Herkimer, Onondaga, and Erie Counties, New York — Worked as an onsite geologist and field technician for Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III investigations, geotechnical site investigations, and structure foundation recommendations. Geotechnical project activities included boring extraction and sampling, test pit excavations, and infiltration testing in accordance with New York State Stormwater Management Design Manual.

Wireless Telecommunications Facility Sites, Various Locations, New York — Worked with project managers to complete field investigation and coordination for facility location, site planning, survey and utility location coordination, and geotechnical site investigations. The work included site reconnaissance and data collection for photo simulations, geotechnical boring extraction and investigation, and sample collection for laboratory analysis.

Real Estate/Commercial/Solar Development Clients, Herkimer, Onondaga, and Erie Counties, New York — Worked as an onsite geologist and field technician for Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III investigations, environmental site investigations, and structure foundation recommendations. Environmental project activities included AST/underground storage tank removals and/or closures, nested monitoring well installations, and soil and groundwater sampling in accordance with New York State environmental regulations and guidance.

Wireless Telecommunications Facility Sites, Various Locations, New York — Worked with project managers to complete field investigation and coordination for facility location, site planning, survey and utility location coordination, and environmental site investigations. The work included site reconnaissance and data collection, environmental boring extraction and investigation, and collection of boring samples for laboratory analysis.

Chlorinated Groundwater Plume Sites, Various Locations, New York — Worked as a field technician during the investigation of tetrachloroethylene contamination in soil and groundwater from former dry-cleaning establishments across New York State. Facilitated fieldwork and communication with the client and NYSDEC to oversee the installation of soil borings and monitoring wells and to better understand site conditions. Conducted quarterly and annual low-flow groundwater sampling events and interfaced with state regulators and local stakeholders, including offsite property owners. Several of these sites included subslab vapor intrusion sampling.

Facilities Decommissioning Field Supervisor, Various Locations, New York and Pennsylvania — Assisted in directing and managing contractors and subcontractors in the decommissioning of oil and gas production equipment associated with the abandonment and reclamation of conventional oil fields in southwest New York, and northwest and southwest Pennsylvania. Responsibilities included conducting day-to-day direction and supervision of heavy equipment operators and subcontractors, maintaining stringent health and safety policy adherence, and implementing and inspecting erosion and sediment control measures. Daily activities included waste characterization of soil, water, and tank sludge and sediment, and oversight of contractors’ activities, including above- and below-ground storage tanks and associated production equipment removal, transportation and disposal, impacted soil characterization and remediation, and aboveground pipeline removal (flushed, cleaned, and capped). Also oversaw the restoration of each site in accordance with state regulations.

Gas Pipeline Mapping, Various Locations, Pennsylvania — Performed field mapping of approximately 300 miles of legacy pipelines throughout southwestern Pennsylvania, including analyzing and utilizing old maps, detecting leaks, scanning and marking pipelines, and GPS mapping. As field supervisor of a field crew was responsible for detecting, classifying, and reporting all Class I, II, and III leaks.

Well Plug and Abandonment, Various Locations, New York and Pennsylvania — Acted as a person-in-charge for the client during plugging and abandonment operations of low-producing and nonproducing oil wells, injection wells, water wells, and upstream infrastructure associated with former hydrocarbon leases in southwest New York and northwest Pennsylvania. Managed and directed two plugging rigs, earthworks and trucking companies’ contract employees, and other subcontractors to ensure efficiency and consistency while maintaining a safe worksite.

Onsite Geologist/Mudlogger, Various Locations, Colorado, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Utah, and West Virginia — As an onsite geologist/mudlogger, spent 3 years working in various oil and gas fields including oil sands, shale oil, and gas plays. While working in the Marcellus shale region, lead a two-person mudlogging team with responsibility for detection position and documentation, with respect to depth, of all beds of rock and hydrocarbon accumulations encountered while drilling. Other responsibilities included instrument calibration and maintenance, accurate collection of samples, and the preparation of a prognosis—a distribution list and sample collection for operations. Also responsible for satisfying the client by producing excellent data and providing strong communication of downhole geology and reservoir characteristics.
