In addition to these presentations, Dr. Jones will serve as a panelist at a town hall meeting and Aimee Thurlow will co-chair a session. Dr. Jones will speak at “Marine Renewable Energy Development – Oceanographic Measurements to Support an Emerging Low-Carbon Energy Source.” Held on Tuesday, February 13, from 12:45–1:45 p.m., this town hall meeting will cover development of the marine renewable industry and its research to establish low-carbon energy sources. Ms. Thurlow’s session is titled “Gulf of Mexico Loop Current and Eddies: Observations, Impacts, and Forecasts” and will be held on Wednesday, February 14, from 4:15–4:35 p.m. The session will focus on technologies and data collection methods for significant oceanographic features in the Gulf of Mexico.
Cosponsored by the American Geophysical Union, the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography, and The Oceanography Society, the 2018 meeting will cover topics in all areas of the ocean sciences.
