brownfield project in the Bronx

Integral staff have led many high visibility brownfields projects, including a project in the Bronx, shown above, where the land was redeveloped for community use as a high school.

Integral Principal Keith Brodock, P.E., P.P., will attend the 6th Annual New York State Redevelopment Summit on June 16-18, 2021.  With programs covering community revitalization and brownfields redevelopment, the summit will highlight updates on trending topics such as environmental justice, equitable redevelopment, climate protection, environmental liability, and renewable energy.  Sponsored by the Center for Creative Land Recycling, the summit provides information and resources to move community brownfields forward.

Integral’s team has led many high-visibility brownfields projects involving diverse stakeholders and challenging regulatory and technical conditions. By integrating a broad range of technical services, we have created significant savings for our clients, maximized efficiency, and helped return underutilized and contaminated properties to productive use.

Our team has helped fight poverty with engineering—turning blighted properties into community benefits.  Two example are projects in the Bronx and Brooklyn, where we’ve cleaned up contaminated land so that schools could be built. Working with a pro bono developer and the Robin Hood Foundation as the client, we contributed to project successes including a 1,000-seat Bronx high school now operated by the Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP).  Our role involved managing the environmental remediation and construction and ensuring that green design principles were met.
