Damian Preziosi to Chair Certification Board for Ecological Society of America

Integral Principal Damian Preziosi, Certified Senior Ecologist, was recently elected as Chair of the Board of Professional Certification for the Ecological Society of America (ESA). With more than 10,000 members, ESA is the nation’s largest professional organization of ecologists, representing scientists from around the world.

As Chair, Mr. Preziosi will support and direct the principal activities of the professional certification program for ecologists who have met high standards in education, experience, and ethics.  Other responsibilities include working with Board and ESA staff to establish certification criteria, approve the online application process, and review applications. Mr. Preziosi has served as a member of the Board since 2016 and was first certified as a senior ecologist in 2005.

Integral is active in ESA’s certification program, and has a total of 10 ecologists certified through ESA as follows: 7 certified senior ecologists, 2 certified ecologists, and 1 associate ecologist.

An environmental scientist with more than 20 years of experience, Mr. Preziosi specializes in the assessment, communication, and management of risk. He works with clients to develop strategic and cost-effective approaches, often predicated on multiple lines of evidence, for managing liabilities in the context of risk assessment, natural resource damage assessment, and environmental impact assessment. Mr. Preziosi’s peer-reviewed work relating to the use of ecological models in risk analysis and assessment of ecosystem services has been used to support research published by U.S., European, Chinese, and Japanese researchers in a diverse array of scientific publications.
