Steve Brauner, Ph.D., P.E., of Integral Consulting Inc. (Integral) will be presenting at the Colorado State Brownfields Conference in Denver, Colorado, on August 25, 2016. Hosted in part by the Colorado Environmental Management Society (CEMS), along with the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment, the conference will feature participants from across the state interested in land use and redevelopment.
Dr. Brauner will present “Beneficial Reuse as a Green and Sustainable Technology: Success Stories and Lessons Learned from Multiple Projects” at 1:15–1:45 p.m. Beneficial reuse of fill material is a proven, but often overlooked, approach to achieving higher green and sustainable remediation goals while reducing project cost. During his presentation, Dr. Brauner will describe case study projects, along with experience gained from successfully planning, designing, and implementing beneficial reuse concepts at more than a dozen sites. Results include substantial savings by avoiding offsite landfill disposal costs and reducing the required volume of imported fill. He will also present various metrics for desirable outcomes including reductions in transportation mileage, fuel consumption, and carbon footprint.
Dr. Brauner brings more than 15 years of professional experience in delivering innovative and effective solutions to his clients’ most difficult challenges. He is committed to reducing costs to clients and society for managing or mitigating environmental hazards, and has a focused commitment on achieving remedial end points.
