Integral Presents Three-Dimensional Geologic Model at GIS Conference

April 20 2010
Speaker(s): David Livermore, R.G., L.H.G., Erik R. Strandhagen, GISP

Mr. Erik Strandhagen, GISP, of Integral Consulting Inc. presented a paper at the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Action Conference in Portland, Oregon, on April 15, 2010. The paper, which he coauthored with David Livermore, R.G., L.H.G., also of Integral, is titled 3D Geologic Modeling for the Umatilla Basin Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project. This work has received strong interest from colleagues and clients because the resulting model, animations, and groundwater volume estimates provide an effective planning and collaboration tool for technical and nontechnical audiences. Mr. Strandhagen has comprehensive expertise producing 3-dimensional geologic and chemical contaminant block models, 2- and 3-dimensional finite gridding, and geostatistical analysis. (See example)

The 18th Annual GIS in Action conference, held this year at Portland State University, highlighted current issues in the geospatial information community. The conference was hosted by Portland State University, the local chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), and the Columbia River Region Chapter of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS). Mr. Strandhagen is the 2009 past president of the Columbia River Region ASPRS Executive Board.
