Williams Certified as Senior Ecologist

Integral Managing Scientist Les Williams, Ph.D. was recently certified as a Senior Ecologist by the Board of Professional Certification of the Ecological Society of America.

ESA certification is awarded to practicing ecologists who have 10 or more years of experience beyond their Ph.D.s and who subscribe to ESA’s code of ethics. With more than 25 years of experience as an aquatic ecologist, Dr. Williams specializes in the characterization and quantification of ecological risk and natural resource injury, in support of focused management strategies for contaminated aquatic and sediment systems.

With his broad background in ecology, Dr. Williams is skilled in quantitative techniques and modeling applications. Dr. Williams applies these skills in site-specific evaluations of injury to natural resources, management of contaminated sediment and dredged materials, determination of chemical bioaccumulation and toxicity in aquatic organisms, and development of site-specific sediment quality and water quality values, as well as ecological risk assessments.

He has provided these services to a wide variety of clients, including the pulp and paper industry, mining and smelting corporations, petrochemical companies, power utilities, municipalities, state health and regulatory agencies, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
