Damian Preziosi Presents Approaches to Groundwater - Surface Water Evaluations

June 08 2006

Damian Preziosi of the Berlin, Maryland, office presented a talk on approaches for evaluating groundwater – surface water interactions at the South Central Regional meeting of the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) held on May 18-20 in Denton, Texas.

His talk, titled “Groundwater Contributions and Sediment Toxicity—Unique Challenges Demand Savvy Approaches,” provided insights on the unique and oftentimes complex challenges associated with assessing the potential influences of groundwater on surface water environments, notably on observed sediment toxicity. Mr. Preziosi discussed the use of chemical correspondence analysis techniques based upon three core components of reasoning to systematically assess the role of groundwater in a case example of observed toxicity in an adjacent water body.
