Damian V. Preziosi, of our Berlin, Maryland, office, was recently invited to speak at the National Meeting on West Nile Virus and Other Non-enteric Zoonotic Diseases, held in Quebec, Canada on February 15-17. Sponsored by the Public Health Agency of Canada, the meeting focused on topics of interest to health officials, vector control managers, pesticide manufacturers, and the public. Mr. Preziosi presented an overview of Integral’s efforts to support Suffolk County, New York, in developing a risk-based management strategy for control of West Nile virus and other mosquito-borne diseases. Integral recently completed human health and ecological assessments of the risks of vector control pesticides considered for use by the County. Mr. Preziosi also discussed the background and approach for these risk assessments as well as the results of both assessments.
