Mark J. Herrenkohl, MSC, PEG Appointed to Whatcom County’s Marine Resources Committee

The County Executive of Whatcom County has appointed Mark J. Herrenkohl, MSC, PEG to the Marine Resources Committee (MRC) for a two year term.

Established in 1999, the MRC’s purpose is to guide local communities, using up-to-date information and scientific expertise, to achieve the important goals of resource conservation and habitat protection within the Northwest Straits. The mission of the Whatcom County Marine Resources Committee is revitalizing and preserving Whatcom County marine resources for future generations.

The Whatcom MRC is one of seven such committees established in the Northwest Straits regions as a part of the federal Northwest Straits Marine Conservation Initiative. In addition to support from five citizen-based interest groups, including Conservation and Environmental Interest, Economic Interest, Recreational Interest, Relevant Scientific Expertise, and Citizen-at-Large, the MRC also includes representation from elected officials, local tribes, and local government staff.
