Integral’s Priscilla Tomlinson will teach a 1-day course on the Washington State Department of Ecology’s spreadsheets for modeling the soil leaching pathway in Kirkland, Washington, on January 24, 2012. The course is sponsored by the Northwest Environmental Training Center (NWETC), a nonprofit organization that provides professional environmental training and promotes environmental education in schools. Leaching is one of the issues that must be addressed by soil cleanup levels under the Model Toxics Control Act. Ms. Tomlinson will lead participants through a number of hands-on exercises that demonstrate the appropriate use and capabilities of the two spreadsheet models. She will also discuss model theory, assumptions, limitations, and alternatives such as empirical demonstrations and leaching tests.
