Integral Continues to Expand Commitment to Ecological Certification

July 16 2010

Reflecting Integral’s corporate commitment to the core values of technical proficiency and high ethical standards, three Integral ecologists were recently awarded certification or recertification by the Ecological Society of America (ESA). Numbering more than 10,000 members, ESA is an international science organization dedicated to establishing high professional standards for ecologists through the certification process. Robert Pastorok, Ph.D., expanded his notable credentials through his new ESA certification as a senior ecologist. Senior managing scientist Damian Preziosi was recertified as a senior ecologist, while Integral scientist Matthew Behum was recertified at a higher level, moving from associate ecologist to ecologist.

“These certifications represent Integral’s overall commitment to strong ethics, technical integrity, and the continued professional growth of our staff,” says Integral Principal Judi Durda. “Our core values are what make Integral a high quality resource for clients who need trusted ecological support. Rob, Matt, and Damian are to be commended for their achievements.”

With these new and renewed certifications, nearly 50 percent of Integral’s ecology staff are now certified by ESA. Other Integral ESA-certified ecologists include Judi Durda, Deborah Rudnick, Ph.D., Les Williams, Ph.D., Jennifer Sampson, and John Sullivan.

ESA certification is awarded to individuals whose education, training, and experience meet established professional standards. Each certified member pledges to uphold the ESA code of ethics and to act in the best interests of the public. According to ESA, the certification program serves as a means of identifying well-trained and reliable professionals who meet criteria of competence and incorporate ecological principals in decision making.
